20th Century Fox's animation division is on a roll. After hitting it big with the 'Ice Age' franchise, 'Horton Hears a Who!' and 'Rio,' the studio wants to try its luck with a big-screen version of the popular comic strip 'Mutts.' According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio's animation division has hired 'Mutts' creator Patrick McDonnell and his brother Robert McDonnell to write the script for a feature-length animated film.

'Mutts,' syndicated by King Features Syndicate to 700 newspapers in 20 countries, is a daily comic strip McDonnell created in 1994 that follows the antics of a dog named Earl and a cat named Mooch, and their interactions with their human owners and a large cast of neighborhood animals.
