Hot off the heels of Ryan Gosling's inspiring actions in New York City, Kate Winslet is joining the heroic-movie-star club after thinking fast and saving lives.

While vacationing (sorry, holiday-ing) at Richard Branson's private getaway of Necker Island, a massive fire erupted in the house that Winslet and 20 others were staying in as a result of 90-mph winds from Tropical Storm Irene. As reported Branson on his blog, "My son Sam and nephew Jack rushed to the house and helped get everyone out and many thanks to Kate Winslet for helping to carry my 90 year old mum out of the main house to safety -- she was wondering when a Director was going to shout CUT!"

That's right, Oscar-winner Kate Winslet saved a 90-year-old woman's life by carrying her out of a burning building. Unbelievable.

Though the house itself is a lost cause, everyone staying on the island is safe and sound. Click through to see Branson's footage of the blaze in action.
