If there's anything to be learned from 'Super Mario Bros.' to 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,' it's that the movies have never done video games any favors. But thanks to short films like Kevin Tancharoen's 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth' that actually do the source material justice, and then some, there is still hope to be had for this misrepresented medium that's ripe with potential.
Following in Tancharoen's footsteps is Dan Trachtenberg's live-action short film 'Portal: No Escape.' Based off the video game 'Portal,' the short film centers around an unnamed woman who wakes up in a sealed-off holding cell until she discovers a high-tech gun that allows her break out with the power of physics. Not the first video game we would have pegged for an adaptation, but a phenomenal game nonetheless.
Hopefully Hollywood catches wind and gives Trachtenberg the go-ahead on this one, because he could very well be the savior that all us gamers have been asking for. Click through to check out 'Portal: No Escape' for yourself.
