Jack Nicholson is a huge Yankees fan, but he could be temporarily change allegiances for a new film. Vulture reports that Nicholson has been offered a role in the upcoming Jackie Robinson biopic '42.' There is no word on who he would be playing, but as Vulture points out, it would likely be Brooklyn Dodgers executive Branch Rickey, the man who signed Robinson to a minor league contract in 1945. Two years later, Rickey called up Robinson, where he became the first African-American player to appear in the majors. He played until his retirement in 1956 and was later voted into the Hall of Fame. Brian Helgeland, who wrote the screenplays for 'Mystic River' and 'L.A. Confidential,' is attached to direct.
