Back in August, with 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' earning millions of dollars worldwide, HitFix's Drew McWeeny reported that 'Hallows' director David Yates was going to helm a new version of 'The Stand' for 'Potter' studio Warner Bros. Yates and Steve Kloves, who adapted all but one of the J.K. Rowling 'Potter' books for the screen, would team up for the Stephen King adaptation, which would be spread out over multiple movies. About that: Yates isn't directing 'The Stand' (Ben Affleck might), and Yates is now onboard for a big-screen take on 'Doctor Who.' Which raises the obvious question: What happened?
