Garrett Hedlund sure loves the Beat Generation. The actor, best known for his roles in the big-screen version of "Friday NIght Lights" and "Tron: Legacy," is negotiating to join the cast of the Coen Bros. 1960s folk music flick, "Inside Llewyn Davis," loosely based on the life of singer Dave Von Ronk. In addition to "Llewyn Davis," Hedlund will also play Dean Moriarty, the lead character in the anticipated adaptation of "On the Road."

Although Hedlund's role in the film has yet to be announced, he is certainly no stranger to singing on screen. As Variety points out, the actor played singer Beau Hutton, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in last year's "Country Strong."

"Inside Llewyn Davis," which stars Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake and Coen. Bros.' regular John Goodman, is set to hit theaters sometime in 2013.
