While George Clooney played a presidential candidate, looks positively Kennedy-esque in a suit, and has continued his support of President Obama, he's not getting ready to break hearts along the campaign trail.

"I've never campaigned-even when my father ran for Congress," Clooney told E! Online's Marc Malkin. "I do fundraisers, but I don't think it looks particularly good to have actors out there on stage."

Clooney explained that an actor's presence can be "polarizing" and actually hurt a politicians chances. (Maybe for people who are not George Clooney.)

"The Descendants" star, however, is very much involved in political issues. He is headlining a staged reading of Dustin Lance Black's "8" to overturn Prop 8 and legalize same-sex marriage in California.

Clooney believes that's a battle nearly won: "I think younger people are looking at this like, 'Who cares?' I do believe it's generational, much like the civil rights movement," he continued. "Young people started taking to the streets and things changed. This really is the final leg of the civil rights movement."
