It's a match made in Canuck film nerd heaven.

One of Canada's biggest Hollywood exports, Ryan Reynolds, is set to work with one of the country's most celebrated filmmakers, Atom Egoyan.

Reynolds has been tapped to star as the father of an abducted girl in Egoyan's next project, Queen of the Night. The psychological thriller was co-written by Egoyan and David Fraser, and follows Reynolds's character as he finds disturbing clues that his daughter may still be alive eight years after she was taken.

In a press release, Reynolds said he's looking forward to working with Egoyan, calling the Oscar-nominated director a true artist. "His films demand that we face what is most complex in our own psyches," Reynolds noted. "I look forward to having an opportunity to observe his innovating directing style firsthand."

Egoyan is excited about working with Reynolds because of the impressive range he's demonstrated in diverse flicks such as Buried, Safe House and The Proposal.

Queen of the Night will begin shooting in southern Ontario in February.
