"My name is Pi Patel. I have been in a shipwreck. I am on a lifeboat alone with a tiger. Please send help."

In a harrowing new look at Ang Lee's next film, "Life of Pi," viewers meet Pi Patel (Suraj Sharma), the son of a zookeeper who ends up stranded in the Pacific Ocean with a tiger after a shipwreck.

Based on the best-selling book by Yann Martel, "Pi" has become a critic and Oscar favorite since its premiere at the New York Film Festival last month. "'Life of Pi' is gorgeous and engaging and often thrilling. Ending is a whiff, just like the book, but when it works... Wow," tweeted CinemaBlend's Katey Rich. "'Life of Pi' is an unusual example of anything-is-possible technology put at the service of a humanistic and intimate story rather than something that smacks of a manufactured product," wrote the Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy.

Above, you can get a brief glimpse at Lee's beautiful new film in an exclusive clip. Here, Pi finds himself in the middle of the ocean, with nothing but a lifeboat and a tiger as company. "Life of Pi," starring Sharma, Adil Hussain, Irrfan Khan and Gerard Depardieu, hits theaters November 21.
