Today, the nominations for the 2013 Golden Globes were announced. The 70th annual awards ceremony will air on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

So what stars (and films) have the Hollywood Foreign Press Association given nods to this year? No surprises that "Zero Dark Thirty," "Argo" and "Lincoln" were all selected for Best Picture. A little more shocking was the inclusion of "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" in the Best Picture, Comedy or Musical category (the film also got nods for its two stars, Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt). As expected Daniel Day-Lewis got a Best Acting nod for "Lincoln," as did Denzel Washington for "Flight." The category's two big surprises were Richard Gere for "Arbitrage" and Joaquin Phoenix for "The Master." Gere hasn't been garnering a ton of awards coverage for his role, and many assumed Phoenix put his foot in his mouth earlier this year when he bad mouthed the Oscars and other awards shows.
