Zoe Saldana may be heading out to the final frontier, albeit a very different one from the world of "Star Trek."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saldana is in talks to star in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" as a green-skinned humanoid assassin named Gamora. Known as the deadliest woman in the universe, she's the last of her species.

If Saldana comes on board, she'll join a cast that already includes Chris Pratt as the Star Lord and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer. Giant tree-man Groot and explosives-loving Rocket Raccoon will round out their superhero team.

The James Gunn-directed movie is set to begin filming in June, with plans for an August 1, 2014 release.

"Guardians of Galaxy" would add another helping to Saldana's already full movie plate. She stars in "Star Trek Into Darkness" on May 17, recently wrapped "Out of the Furnace" with Christian Bale, and will reprise her motion-capture role in "Avatar 2."
