Twitter is good for a lot of things, but it's increasingly being used by filmmakers as a way to drop tidbits of information on unsuspecting fans. In the case of "Amazing Spider-Man 2," we have gotten our first official look at two of the biggest characters from the hotly anticipated sequel via the social media platform - Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon aka the villainous Electro and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn.

The photo of Electro came from Mark Webb, who included the caption: "Day 52. My name is Max."

The photo is of Electro before he turns into the blue, lightning-powered creature that the character is identified as in the comic books. (Earlier last week spy photos of Foxx in his full blue regalia leaked online, looking very much like the "Ultimate Spider-Man" version of the character.) The shot shows him surrounded by Spider-Man ephemera, including what looks like a Spider-Man poster adorned with Chinese or Japanese writing. In a nice touch, Foxx's hair even looks like a limp spider's web.

As for the photo of Harry, that one is much more boilerplate. It was tweeted by DeHaan himself, who in recent years has proven himself to be one of the most exciting young actors working today, with memorable turns in "Chronicle," "The Place Beyond the Pines," and "Lawless." The photo shows Harry stepping into a large SUV. His hair is very angular and potentially evil.

Further hair secrets will be revealed when "Amazing Spider-Man 2" opens everywhere on May 2nd, 2014.
