The first teaser trailer for "Thor: The Dark World" has dropped, and it's got us pumped to return to Asgard.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) didn't even get a chance catch his breath after last summer's "Avengers" adventures before "The Dark World" came calling.

As Big Daddy Odin (Anthony Hopkins) explains, "Some believe that before the universe, there was nothing. They're wrong. There was darkness, and it has survived." That darkness would be Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) and the Dark Elves, a danger so great that Thor turns to his dangerous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) for help, but not without a deadly caveat that he'll off Loki once they're done. Fratricide versus eternal darkness -- what a deal.

Thor spirits off Jane (Natalie Portman) to Asgard, which doesn't please Sif (Jaimie Alexander) at all. Can Thor and Jane ever be together without the world almost ending? Doubtful. Looks like Jane is in serious danger from Malekith and his spooky minions...

Director Alan Taylor has a slew of TV credits under his belt, and has been behind the camera for "Game of Thrones," "Bored to Death," "Mad Men," and "The Sopranos." Taylor took over directing duties from Kenneth Branagh for "The Dark World."

"Thor: The Dark World" will be hammering its way into theaters on November 8.
