Ethan Hawke fails Julie Delpy's test in this exclusive clip from "Before Midnight," the third installment in Richard Linklater's romantic trilogy.

"If we were meeting for the first time today on a train, would you find me attractive?" Celine (Delpy) asks her husband Jesse (Hawke), whom she met two decades ago on a train in Vienna. Jesse answers yes, but, of course, fails his wife's test (as men do most of the time). The discussion turns to the what-ifs of life, and the middle-aged mom's insecurities.

The first film, "Before Sunrise," follows Jesse and Celine over the course of one day, as they meet on a train and fall in love. The second, "Before Sunset," catches up with Jesse and Celine nine years later in Paris, after Jesse has written a book about their encounter. In "Before Midnight," we find the couple in their early 40s, in Greece, and taking on the hurdles of marriage and parenthood.

Watch the clip above, and see what life has in store for Celine and Jesse when "Before Midnight" hits theaters May 24.
