Oscar-nominated actor Don Cheadle is certainly used to lengthy, weighty monologues and dramatic roles, but we don't often see him in action-hero movies. Perhaps that's what makes his appearance as Colonel James Rhodes (Iron Patriot, when suited up) in "Iron Man 3" so appealing -- we don't expect someone of his calibre in summer's first blockbuster.

But he works well alongside Robert Downey, Jr., who plays the titular character; the two play off each other like old friends, and it's fun to watch. Cheadle's role is more prominent in this third movie -- he's jumping, flipping and fighting along with the rest.

Moviefone sat down to chat with Cheadle about playing a superhero, if he had any superhero idols growing up, and whether or not kids should see this movie.
