He said he'd be back -- and now Arnold Schwarzenegger is making good on that promise, confirming that he will indeed appear in the fifth installment of the "Terminator" franchise, which is set to start production early next year.
Fan site TheArnoldFans.com reports that during a recent appearance at the 21st Century Financial Education Summit in Australia, Schwarzenegger announced that he would be involved with the next "Terminator" film.
"I'm very happy that the studios want me to be in 'Terminator 5' and to star as the Terminator, which we start shooting in January," he said.
Paramount is taking the reins of the franchise following a disappointing box office return on the last two installments for Warner Bros. Writers Laeta Kalogridis ("Shutter Island") and Patrick Lussier ("Drive Angry") are penning a script, though no director has been secured yet. Justin Lin was once on board to helm the project, but opted to shoot "Fast & Furious 6" instead.
In addition to "Terminator," Schwarzenegger also revealed two more sequel projects that are in the works. He's due to receive the script for a "Conan the Barbarian" sequel in the next few weeks, and also is working on a follow-up to his comedy hit "Twins," called "Triplets."
" ... I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I'm looking forward to doing those films," Schwarzenegger said.
