Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller enjoy some sweet summer loving in the critically acclaimed coming-of-age movie "The Spectacular Now," which won a Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize for acting earlier this year.
This first trailer introduces the story of how two very different teens become drawn together. Sutter (Teller) is a charming, popular, hard-partying high school senior who isn't thinking much about his future -- just his "spectacular now." Then after one drunken night, he wakes up on a strange lawn and sees Aimee (Woodley) hovering over him. They strike up an unlikely friendship, which soon turns into romance. But can a party animal and geeky nice girl make it work?
"Do you not see that I'm bad for you?" he says.
With rave reviews from Sundance and Woodley's growing profile after her performance, "The Spectacular Now" could get a lot of love this awards season.
"The Spectacular Now," from "Smashed" director James Ponsoldt, also stars Brie Larson, Kyle Chandler, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Bob Odenkirk. The movie opens Aug. 2.
Although she's been cut from "Amazing Spider-Man 2," Woodley still has her starring role in the hotly anticipated YA adaptation "Divergent" to look forward to in 2014.
