Could Ashton Kutcher score an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Steve Jobs? After watching the first trailer for the new biopic of the Apple founder -- mercifully re-titled "Jobs" instead of the original "jOBS" -- you might just say yes.

Kutcher easily slips into the role of the bespectacled Apple icon, as "Jobs" traces the company's trajectory from humble garage start-up to the hottest business on the planet -- with a few bumps along the way. Apple obsessives are no doubt familiar with its founder's path through the company, including getting fired in 1985, and "Jobs" appears to be a warts-and-all look at its titular character.

Other promising bits from the trailer include a brief glimpse of J.K. Simmons as Apple investor Arthur Rock, and an amusing exchange between Jobs and an employee who claims "typeface is not a pressing issue" -- and is promptly thrown out of the room. The trailer closes with Kutcher narrating part of Jobs's famous "Here's to the crazy ones..." speech, ending with the line "because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."

"Jobs" may not change the world, but it sure looks like fun. It boots up into theaters Aug. 16.
