Yesterday Roland Emmerich announced his full-on support of marriage equality by offering to match up to $250,000 in donations made to the Human Rights Campaign, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, the "White House Down" director is even more dedicated to the cause today.
The HRC, which has fought for the rights of LGBT Americans and against Proposition 8, announced in an email this morning that Emmerich will now triple every donation made until midnight tonight. Of the Washington-based organization, Emmerich told THR, "HRC won't stop until discrimination against LGBT Americans is eliminated."
Even with last week's victories at the Supreme Court against DOMA and Prop. 8, the HRC plans to move their fight into red states in a effort to secure equality for all. Since yesterday's announcement the organization has raised $202,178, with only $47,822 left of their goal to be raised.
"With last week's Supreme Court rulings, they proved it can be done, but we still have a long way to go in establishing equal rights for everyone. I support them every step of the way," Emmerich said.
Donations can be made on the HRC website.
