Woody Harrelson and Christian Bale in 'Out of the Furnace'Relativity Media

Christian Bale stars in the gritty crime drama "Out of the Furnace," about a steel mill worker who takes the law into his own hands after his younger brother (Casey Affleck) gets caught up in a backwoods crime ring led by Woody Harrelson.

Bale plays Russell Baze, whose brother, an Iraq war vet, suddenly vanishes. The local police force, led by Forest Whitaker, claims to have no authority over Harrelson's gang, leading Bale on a solo mission for revenge. The trailer is full of action -- Affleck taking punches, Bale and Harrelson throwing them -- and sets up a sure-to-be epic final showdown.

"I'm Rodney Baze's brother, and I ain't leaving without 'im," Bale tells a sneering Harrelson.

The already-stacked cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Zoe Saldana, and Sam Shepard, and the film is directed by "Crazy Heart"'s Scott Cooper. With that pedigree -- and its late-fall release -- expect it to make waves come awards season.

"Out of the Furnace" is scheduled for a November 27 limited release, with wider distribution on December 6.
