We're still a little less than a year away from the arrival of Marc Webb's highly anticipated sequel "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," but seeing as it's Comic-Con, Sony had to let a little something slip.

The tease comes in the form of a preview clip introducing Jamie Foxx's villainous Electro, which starts off with a bunch of high-tech machinery sliding into place. "I can feel it in the walls," Foxx purrs dangerously. "I feel it in my veins. No matter what you do, Doc, you can't tame it. You wanna know how powerful I am? Well I wanna know too."

We then meet the electrified man, who growls, "I'm Electro." This is followed by a truly chilling, cold-blooded stare into the camera amid a cascade of sparks.

The translucent skin effect teased in the Entertainment Weekly photos from last week is on full display here, with bolts of lighting dancing just beneath Electro's skin.

The clip ends with the time and location of the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" Comic-Con panel (Hall H on July 19 at 4 p.m.), and from the looks of this teaser, it's sure to be one of the can't-miss -- and most "shocking" -- presentations at SDCC this year.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opens in your friendly neighborhood cinemas on May 2, 2014.
