Pompeii just got a whole lot sexier -- and a little emo.
Kit Harington trades in his heavy "Game of Thrones" furs for more revealing attire in the new trailer (below) for the action-drama "Pompeii," from "Resident Evil" director (and Milla Jovovich husband) Paul W.S. Anderson.
In the trailer, we see what looks like snow gently falling on mountains, accompanied by the following voice-over: "Some prayed for help. Many wished for death. But in a city forever lost, the greatest secret still waits." It's soon revealed that what we're seeing is not snow, it's ash -- and it's falling on the petrified bodies of the victims of Mt. Vesuvius's historic eruption, the one that wiped Pompeii off the map.
Then things get decidedly emo.
Harington appears, with his muscled arms and abs of steel on full display, strolling in slo-mo to a dreamy, melodic rock song. (Nothing says epic like the slo-mo rock-walk.) Then, the visual abruptly changes to the scenes of death, destruction, and mayhem you'd expect from a movie about a volcanic eruption.
Catastrophe aside, "Pompeii," at its core, tells the story of a slave (Harington), who journeys home to the titular city to save the woman he loves (Emily Browning) and his best friend before the inevitable eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
The movie, which also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Kiefer Sutherland, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, explodes into theaters February 21, 2013.
