Disney has unveiled the complete casting lineup for its upcoming live-action adaptation of classic children's book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day."
The flick will star Australian actor Ed Oxenbould as the titular Alexander, who wakes up with gum in his hair and is forced to eat lima beans for dinner, among other childhood woes depicted in the Judith Viorst picture book. Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner will play Alexander's parents, and Dylan Minnette ("Lost") and Kerris Dorsey ("Moneyball") are set to appear as his older siblings.
Megan Mullally, Jennifer Coolidge, and Bella Thorne will also star.
The official synopsis teases that the movie will follow 11-year-old Alexander on "the most terrible and horrible day of his young life." While his "upbeat family" initially doesn't have much sympathy for his misadventures, Alexander "soon learns that he's not alone when his brother, sister, mom, and dad all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn't had one."
Directed by Miguel Arteta ("The Good Girl," "Cedar Rapids," "Youth in Revolt"), "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" is slated to hit theaters October 10, 2014.
