Which came first: Christopher Nolan's increasingly Hooverish secrecy about his film projects or the fans' feverish hunger for crumb-sized details? We'll never know for sure, but this chicken-egg situation has given rise to speculation and leaks (or "leaks") like nobody's business. And naturally, the latest subject is Nolan's upcoming film "Interstellar."
We can trace the latest plot speculation to a Canadian paper based in Alberta, where "Interstellar" is currently filming. It seems hard to believe that anyone involved with Nolan's project hasn't taken a blood oath to protect the plot synopsis with his or her life, but apparently the Fort Macleod Gazette got its hands on the elevator pitch.
Plot spoiler -- or clever misdirection from Nolan's camp -- to follow!
Let's take a deep breath and jump in, shall we? "Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated. The scientists embark on a journey through a wormhole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown."
At least they're not murderous trees, right?
We'll take this with a large grain of salt, as it seems like the perfect sort of thing to lob into the echo chamber of the Internet right before a long weekend.
"Interstellar," which boasts an insanely awesome cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, and Michael Caine, is slated for release in November 2014.
