Who doesn't have fond memories of huddling beneath their covers reading a chilling edition of "Goosebumps"?

Now the beloved scary-story series is heading to the big screen, with Jack Black in negotiations to star. TheWrap reports that the actor is in talks to reunite with his "Gulliver's Travels" director Rob Letterman for the adaptation.

The books by R.L. Stine are second only to "Harry Potter" in popularity among children's series, with more than 300 million copies sold in 32 languages. A "Goosebumps" TV show was a huge hit in the '90s, and continues to re-run on The Hub.

A source tells TheWrap that Black would play "a Stine-like author whose scary characters literally leap off the page, forcing him to hide from his own creepy creations." Considering that there are 62 "Goosebumps" books, Black may have found a seriously long-running franchise.
