We can smell what The Rock is cooking, and it's got a delicious, explosion-y top note with a hint of family friendly action. Dwayne Johnson has signed on the dotted line for "San Andreas," an earthquake actioner that combines our love for natural disasters with daddy-savior heroics.
Johnson will star as a "rugged rescue-helicopter pilot" -- is there any other kind? -- who has to find his daughter after a terrible earthquake hits California. Johnson has a long history of stealing scenes and scooping news outlets on Twitter, and frankly, there are few action stars as charming as he is. Johnson just wrapped Brett Ratner's "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" and is now knee-deep in "Fast & Furious 7."
The idea for "San Andreas" was cooked up by producer Beau Flynn, who has also worked on "The Number 23," "What's Your Number," "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," the "Red Dawn" remake, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters," and "Slap Her, She's French!" "Journey 2" director Brad Peyton is also on board. So we're feeling pretty good about this!
"San Andreas" will hit theaters in about 2015 if we all haven't slid into the ocean by then.
