This weekend "Carrie," a blood-splattered remake of the Brian De Pama film, telekinetically blasts its way into theaters nationwide. Most see this remake as a treasonous act; the De Palma original is, after all, a bona fide genre classic. But it's not perfect. There are some things that stick out like a sore thumb, like the sped up montage of the guys trying on their tuxes and an awkward use of De Palma's trademark split screen in the climax (there's no real reason for it since all of the action takes place in relatively close geographic proximity).

The new "Carrie" is an opportunity to correct some of these missteps, while injecting the classic tale of bullying and telepathic retribution with some fresh blood. It's also a chance to tell more of the story author Stephen King originally told (in the 1974 novel of the same name), which had Carrie, a young woman with psychic abilities, wreaking havoc on the entire town and not just her high school gymnasium.

This begs the question: what other Stephen King movies could benefit from a fresh take? Behold, ten more King adaptations that need to be remade!STEPHEN KING'S IT, Tim Curry, 1990
