Tom Hanks has played every type of role imaginable during his long and storied career, but there's one genre that's eluded the star so far: superhero movies.
The versatile actor revealed that he's been eager to don a cape and tights -- or even a villain's mask -- for years, but the parts just never materialize.
"They don't ask me, man," Hanks revealed to Showbiz 411 when questioned about why he hasn't appeared in a superhero flick. "I keep trying."
Since Hanks is already the nicest guy in the universe and beloved by anyone with a beating heart, picturing him saving the day is an easy fit. But as HuffPost Entertainment points out, Hanks is a bit older than other men who've played iconic superheroes, so his suggestion that he play a villain instead is a more likely scenario.
I can do it. Even let me play a bad guy, let me play the bad guy against Batman. I'll do anything. ... God, I want to throw a shield at somebody. ... And I don't want to play the guy in the suit who tells the superheroes what's going on, I don't want to be that guy [who says,] 'Well, you know, Batman, Captain America, Iron Man, here's what we've discovered.' ... I want to get in there, I want to play The Flash or something like that.
Regardless of whether or not he's portraying someone good or evil, we'd watch Hanks do anything onscreen. Make this happen, Hollywood.
