An explorer steals a valuable idol from a temple and is chased down by forces intent on getting it back.
Yes, that is a summary of the beginning of "Raiders of the Lost Ark," but it will also be the plot for the new movie version of the popular mobile game "Temple Run."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer David Heyman ("Harry Potter") is teaming up with Warner Bros. to bring the best-selling game to the big screen.
"Temple Run" was created by Imangi Studios in 2011 and has since spawned a sequel and spinoffs featuring characters from "Brave" and "Oz the Great and Powerful." In the game, the player runs through an obstacle-ridden maze; in the movie, the explorer would be chased by "demonic forces" after he steals an idol from the temple.
Heyman adds "Temple Run" to his already-busy producing plate. After successfully launching "Gravity," he's concentrating on J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" spinoff, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
