More than a year ago, television talk show host and genuine media icon Stephen Colbert promised that he would have a cameo in the second "Hobbit" film, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." This was confirmed by Colbert during an interview with David Letterman earlier this month, although who exactly Colbert portrayed in the sequel (which just entered its third week as the king of the box office), had never been revealed... until now.

Thanks to an eagle-eyed Reddit user (via Vulture), Colbert's cameo has been exposed! Who does the performer portray? Well, none other than a Laketown spy! What makes his performance even more amazing is the grimace Colbert puts on, twisting his face to make sure that he looked really, really ridiculously evil.
Well, now that that mystery is solved, we can turn our attention to the next "Hobbit"-related conundrum, like what, exactly, is going to happen in the third movie (and who from the original "Lord of the Rings" trilogy will be the next to show up in an auspicious cameo).
