Marvel fans and toy fans alike, rejoice! The first official look at the action figures from "Guardians of the Galaxy" is here, and no surprise: they're awesome.
The figures, debuted via a poster for this weekend's American International Toy Fair by Yahoo! Movies, clearly mimic the first official cast photo from "Guardians," depicting the rag-tag lineup of our unlikely heroes: Gamora, Peter Quill, Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot.
The Rocket Raccoon and Groot figures in particular are quite detailed and impressive, most closely mirroring their onscreen counterparts (voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively), though we must admit that the Gamora and Peter (Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt) toys leave a bit to be desired. Then again, action figures aren't exactly the best medium for accurate human likenesses, and the alien creatures really do look great.
Overall, this set should be a great addition to the collections of both serious comic book afficianados and more casual toy fans, and certainly drums up excitement for "Guardians"'s long-anticipated release date. The figurines go on sale in July, and will retail for $19.99 each.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" opens August 1.
