Well, fans and people who claim that they haven't read the novel but secretly have (isn't that what Kindles are for?), the wait for the big screen version of "Fifty Shades of Grey" has officially reached the "it's only a year away" mark, and unleashed an accompanying image to remind you that you're probably going to see some super tame S&M stuff in just a year's time and that a bunch of white people are in the cast. Save the date!
The image itself is pretty self-explanatory: it features our main character Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson, who can be seen in next month's "Need for Speed"), clutching a manila folder, probably with raw sexual tension but we can't be sure from the photo. In the foreground is, presumably, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), who will (or is currently) the dom to her sub. Apparently, the novel has lots of spanking and bondage and whatnot, although it's not entirely clear how much of that will remain in the final, multiplex-worthy version.
Rounding out the "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast are Eloise Mumford, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, Victor Rasuk, Max Martini, Jennifer Ehle, and Marcia Gay Harden. Sam Taylor-Johnson directs from a script by Kelly Marcel, with rewrites by Patrick Marber and action scribe Mark Bomback, working from E.L. James's phenomenally popular novel. More excitingly, Danny Elfman will be providing the score and Seamus McGarvey, a frequent collaborator of Joe Wright (who was at one point supposedly in the running to helm "Fifty"), is on cinematography duties.
As the image suggests, the adaptation will be out February 13, 2015, just in time to embarrass your easily offended mother.
