mark ruffalo columboSocial media is weird, you guys. It was already tough to figure out if people were being silly or sarcastic online -- is that winky face passive aggressive? What do the extra exclamation points mean? --- and in 140 characters, it can be even harder. Whether Gary Whitta ("The Book of Eli," "After Earth," an upcoming "Star Wars" project) was serious or just tweetin' around, his fan-casting of Mark Ruffalo as Columbo struck a nerve with folks who loved the mystery series and its adorably gruff star, Peter Falk. Then Ruffalo, who is an active Twitter user, chimed in. The idea started snowballing: But then this happened: Chances are high that this #RuffaloColumbo movement is just a lark, no matter how much we'd like it to be true. In the meantime, we'll just have to enjoy reruns of "Columbo" mashed up with scenes from "The Avengers" of Ruffalo Hulking out. There has to be someone who would be willing to ask about this at SDCC next week. We'll give you a dollar if you do.
