Fifteen-year-old Cassidy Stay is a survivor of incomprehensible tragedy. Her former uncle Ron Lee Haskell went on a shooting rampage in her family's home in Spring, TX., that left her parents and four siblings dead. Stay, who survived because she pretended to be dead after being grazed by a bullet, gave an incredibly moving speech at her family's memorial that quoted the beloved headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumblebore.

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light," Stay told more than 400 people assembled for the memorial. Soon after, a Facebook page sprang up called "We want JK Rowling to Meet Cassidy Stay," which later passed on the news that J.K. Rowling sent a letter to Cassidy "from" Dumbledore.

A spokesperson to Rowling told The Houston Chronicle, "We can confirm that J.K. Rowling did indeed send a personalized letter to Cassidy Stay. The contents of the letter and how it came about are private and between her and Cassidy." Whomever runs the Facebook page elaborated: "She was also sent a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts with a school supply list, along with the 3rd book with JK's autograph."

Donations have poured in for Stay via GoFundMe; as of this writing, over $401K has been raised for a trust fund for Cassidy and the Stay family.
