The upcoming big screen adaptation of beloved children's book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" is said to turn the tables on Alexander's less-than-understanding family -- but as we see in this clip, premiering today exclusively on Moviefone, that's not the case just yet.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day - Clip No. 1

The short scene features Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) and his family sitting around the kitchen table, swapping stories about how great their lives are going. His sister, Emily (Kerris Dorsey), got the lead in the school play and the director loves her. His brother, Anthony (Dylan Minnette), is dating the hottest girl in school and is about to be crowned prom royalty.

As Anthony smugly says, he's "hashtag blessed," a phrase that has Alexander rolling his eyes (a reaction that many viewers will likely share, too). But this picture perfect scene seems to foreshadow that that hashtag will probably change pretty soon.

"Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" -- which also stars Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner -- opens October 10.
