Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been the perfect hosts for the Golden Globes the past two years, injecting biting wit and spontaneity into the raucous ceremony. But sadly, all good things must come to an end, and Poehler has just revealed that the duo are hanging up their hosting hats after 2015.
During an appearance on "Today" to promote the publication of her new book "Yes Please," Poehler dropped the bomb that she and Fey would headline the Globes next January for the "third and final" time. Explaining that it would be hard to keep things fresh forever, the comedienne said that it seemed like the time to step down from the post.
"It's the law of diminishing returns," Poehler said, "which is why this is our last time. Unless you want to be a perennial host, there's nowhere to go but down."
The actress also joked that maybe she and Fey would take a cue from "retired" musicians, and just keep on going with the gig forever.
"It will be like our farewell tour. We'll be like the Jay-Z of the Globes and never retire," she said.
We can't help but think that that idea sounds fabulous. The Globes just won't be the same without these gals.
