If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.
"Today" co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer were on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night, and they were game to rock super-pointy dunce caps and play "Pop Quiz." Last night was an election night, but all the questions were pop culture-related. Jimmy was the ref and the loser was drenched by a giant water balloon. Guess who lost? Let's just say he wasn't feeling too glib after being soaked! He got his revenge on Jimmy, though.
Dr. Phil was on "Conan" and Conan O'Brien asked for Phil's take on the naked celebrity selfies out there. In his opinion, what's going on? Phil said he understands people taking them but not posting them. (But they aren't posting them, Phil.) "If I looked like Jennifer Lawrence, I'd be posting 'em all the time, but I don't understand why they're posting them on this 'cloud' thing. Do you trust the cloud?" (But they weren't deliberately posting to "the cloud," Phil.) Conan pointed out that no one intends to share the photos. Phil said isn't it funny how it's always the good-looking people who get "hacked," is that really an accident? Andy Richter pointed out, why would anyone hack ugly people? Phil said they don't put pictures up. Conan said unattractive people do post things, and he himself could post an ugly selfie and no one would care. Team Conan and Andy on this one. Phil, you're fired. But Conan did decide to post a nude selfie of Dr. Phil lounging on the couch. It's disturbing/hilarious.Michael Chiklis was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," chatting about how much he's enjoying shooting "American Horror Story" in New Orleans. He's also a Boston sports fan, so he talked about how awesome it was when the Patriots won the Super Bowl in NOLA. Michael also said he wanted to use the platform of the show to raise awareness for a serious issue: "The growing problem of baldism." Not all bad men are the same. Don't be baldist and confuse him with the guys from "Breaking Bad," "Die Hard" and "Pawn Shop." He said if you're bald with blue eyes, everyone thinks you're all the same. Preach!
Maya Rudolph was also on JKL and talked about just making a movie with her husband, Paul Thomas Anderson, while she was pregnant. Then they had to reshoot scenes just four days after she had the baby, "which was a huge bummer." Maya actually has four kids, and she talked about how they celebrated Halloween in Mexico, which is a bit different. She also talked about traveling a lot with her parents as a kid and getting a casino chip when she lost her tooth. Kenny Chesney was also on JKL, and here he is singing "Til It's Gone":
"Late Show" with Seth Meyers had Martin Short (who sang to David Letterman on Monday night), Simon Rich and Coco Rocha. Coco, who is known for her posing, tried to teach Seth how to model. Martin recalled when he dated Gilda Radner for a couple of years, and she had a three-legged cat and a Yorkie. Martin was not a big fan. He had to dog-sit one time ... and it did not go well.
FYI, David Letterman and Craig Ferguson had repeats Tuesday night but they're scheduled for new shows tonight.
