channing tatum hateful eightIf you needed another reason to be excited for Quentin Tarantino's forthcoming, super-widescreen western "The Hateful Eight" (which is set to star Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Walt Goggins, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell and Tim Roth), how about the fact that Deadline is reporting that Channing Tatum is circling a role? Yeah, that makes it go down easy, huh?

Screen Daily is reporting that, contrary to the initial Deadline piece, that the role isn't a "major" one, but that the actor comes in somewhere towards the movie's final act (while the original version of Tarantino's script has been heavily re-written, there was a small squadron of bad guys that showed up towards the end in the first draft and we suspect he'll be one of those goons). Tatum's involvement is tied to this week's American Film Market summit in California, where the Weinstein Company, who will be distributing the film domestically, is trying to drum up interest in foreign markets.

"The Hateful Eight" is post-Civil War-set tale about a group of assorted outlaws, lawmen, and rogues who have taken shelter in a tavern during a particularly brutal snowstorm. Who will make it out alive (and what will be left of them) is the biggest question. This is a Quentin Tarantino movie, after all.
