Today, Disney quietly revealed that "Star Wars: Episode VII" has a title – and that it's completed principal photography. Next December, get ready for... "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens." Y'all ready for this?

To be honest, we're not super thrilled with this title. But we are thrilled that it has a title. "Star Wars" titles have, characteristically been pulpier in nature, giving a welcome, humorous throwback to the serialized Saturday matinees that informed them so heavily. They are usually about a person ("The Phantom Menace" alludes to the shadowy soon-to-be Emperor, "A New Hope" and "Return of the Jedi" are both about Luke, and "Revenge of the Sith" is, of course, about the Emperor) or a specific movement ("Attack of the Clones" refers to the Clone Wars while "The Empire Strikes Back" is about the Galactic Empire tightening the noose around the Rebels). "The Force Awakens" could refer to a character, we suppose, one whose grasp of the ethereal Force is stronger than most, but in this episode, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) are both still alive and still, very much, Jedis. So isn't The Force already technically awake? Also, the word "awakens" is limp and fuzzy; in "Star Wars" title history, verbs have a lot of power and action. Things attack! They strike back! They also, now, awaken? That's usually an action that is accompanied by a yawn and picking a large, gooey chunk of whatever out of your eyes. It's not particularly heroic or villainous, quite frankly.

And yet, like all things "Star Wars"-related, we are hopelessly excited. The movie completing principlal photography means that director J.J. Abrams and his team of behind-the-scenes wizards have almost a year to bring us back to a galaxy far, far away. The new movie stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Fisher and Hamill; it will make all the money that ever was or ever will be. Awaken that, bitches.

"Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" will be out on December 18th, 2015.
