Last month's eyebrow-raising announcement that David Spade was resurrecting "Joe Dirt" for a sequel has come to fruition, with the comedian posting a photo of himself in costume as the titular character.
The Instagram image features the character's iconic mullet and facial hair, and we have to say, for 13 years later, Spade looks virtually the same as he did in the original flick. And based on the actor's profanity-laced caption, it seems Joe hasn't changed much, either.
Whether we really needed a sequel to this particular movie is still up for debate ("Joe" didn't fare so well with critics, though it did become somewhat of a cult success on the home video circuit), but we're getting one regardless. The film is currently shooting in Louisiana, and it seems like a safe bet that we'll see more behind-the-scenes glimpses from Spade throughout the production process.
"Joe Dirt 2" will premiere online on Sony's streaming service, Crackle, with an aim for a release sometime during summer 2015.
