In 2012, the a cappella-themed "Pitch Perfect," produced for $17 million and stocked with a cast of largely unknown actors, was released and became a sleeper smash. It wasn't an out-of-the-box sensation, but it grew through word-of-mouth and thanks to its unstoppably best-selling soundtrack album. When all was said and done, it amassed $113 million worldwide and sold tons and tons of copies on home video. So a sequel became, by the end of the long and fruitful run of "Pitch Perfect," something of an inevitable conclusion. Come the summer of 2015, "Pitch Perfect 2" will be upon us and based on this just-released trailer, it can't come soon enough.

"Pitch Perfect 2" reunites all of the actors from the first film (Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson and the list goes on), only this time the girls are going to be competing in a world championship a cappella competition. So yes, the stakes are even greater. And it looks like everyone is really happy to be making a movie together again.

Maybe most interestingly is the fact that Elizabeth Banks, who co-starred and produced the first film, is back this time to direct. (Proving that, yes, it is possible for Elizabeth Banks to become more awesome.) Kay Cannon returns as the film's screenwriter, with her whip-fire writing all over this trailer. (We're not spoiling anything.) It looks like David Cross is involved as the ringleader of an underground a cappella competition and that all sorts of craziness will likely go down on their road to glory.

"Pitch Perfect 2" opens on May 15th. Start warming up now.
