The first trailer for "Pan," the origin story for classic character Peter Pan, is finally here, and it's chock full of eye-popping visuals as well as versions of the iconic characters we've come to know and love over the years.
"Pan" takes us back to the time before Peter adopted that moniker, when he was abandoned by his mother at a wartime orphanage. Peter (played by newcomer Levi Miller) is already a bit of a scamp, defiantly throwing a dish of food and standing on a table, skills he'll hone as the eventual leader of the Lost Boys.
He's kidnapped by Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) and taken to Neverland, where he and his fellow orphans are forced into some sort of hard labor (mining, maybe? It's a bit unclear). There, he meets Hook (Garrett Hedlund, playing a pre-hook-handed version of the captain) and Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara).
The flick certainly has impressive-looking effects, and Miller seems to be well-suited for his first leading role. Only time will tell if the story lives up to the lofty expectations evoked by the trailer.
"Pan," directed by Joe Wright, is due in theaters on June 26, 2015.
