In promotion of the newest season "Sherlock" -- which audiences won't see until 2016 -- the BBC has posted a teaser image on Twitter that's equal parts old-fashioned, humorous, and downright delightful.

The photo shows Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman) dressed up as old-timey versions of their characters, complete with over-the-top hats and a whimsical mustache for Watson. It's unclear what the pair are looking at, but from the expression on Watson's face, he's not too pleased about it.
Perhaps the image is a nod to the sadness that fans are feeling over the long gap between when audiences can expect to see the pair on the small screen again. A "Sherlock" Christmas special is set to air around the holidays in late 2015, with a fourth season of the series slated to start sometime in 2016.

Enjoy this glimpse of Holmes and Watson while you can. And get your Cumberbatch and Freeman fix when "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" hits theaters on December 17.
