Director Josh Trank's upcoming "Fantastic Four" reboot now has an official synopsis, which is slightly different from its comic origins.
Per Rotten Tomatoes:
THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
That summary popped up on the review site earlier this week, but was not confirmed as authentic until IGN reached out to Fox. The studio said that that synopsis was indeed accurate, echoing comments made by cast members about the new direction the film was taking versus previous iterations of the characters.
New Human Torch Michael B. Jordan previously told IGN that the flick would be "grounded," adding, "It'll be about the characters. We're getting down to the nuts and bolts of acting, with this larger-than-life 'bigger world' idea. So it's going to be pretty cool."
"The Fantastic Four," which also stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell, hits theaters on August 7, 2015.
