Never mind a "Bad Beginning" -- this is a great way for Netflix to start its adaptation of "A Series of Unfortunate Events": Get someone else to do the work for you.

Yesterday, a 35-second video appeared on YouTube, called "An Unfortunate Teaser," teasing the upcoming Netflix Original series. It was posted by a user named Eleanora Poe, aka the fictional editor-in-chief of the book series' The Daily Punctilio. The video is pretty polished and looks official. It already has more than 700,000 views, with more than 7,000 likes and about 700 comments sharing excitement about the new show and questions about visuals in the teaser, as if they might share hints on upcoming footage.

That's great and all, but a Netflix rep told Entertainment Weekly they are not behind this new teaser. Are they serious or playing games? If they are serious, they just got very fortunate. Hire this person. If they are playing games ... good. More, please.

Either way, it's never too early to start promoting the bleak Baudelaires, since Netflix did acquire the rights to the 13 best-selling books in Daniel Handler's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series. No word yet on when the Netflix Original series will premiere, but -- based on reaction to this teaser -- fans are ready for the bad news to begin.
