John Stamos has checked into rehab for substance abuse, according to multiple media outlets.

Full House" star had voluntarily entered into "a residential program for the treatment of substance abuse." The site gave no timeline of when Stamos had checked in, or how long he planned to stay at the facility.

According to TMZ, Stamos has actually been in rehab since June 24, checking in less than two weeks after he was arrested for DUI in Beverly Hills. After that incident, Stamos spent the night in a local hospital, where he was treated for an unknown medical condition. He later tweeted his thanks to his fans for their support, and also thanked the police and the hospital for their care.

But TMZ writes that that incident was just the latest in a long battle with substance abuse issues, noting that the actor has reportedly been dealing with this problem "over a period of time."

Stamos has been keeping busy with a variety of projects in recent months, spearheading the revival of "Full House" with new spinoff series "Fuller House," on which he plans to star and also produce. It's unclear if the production of that project, due out in early 2016, will be affected. Stamos is also the lead on a new Fox sitcom, "Grandfathered," set to debut this fall.

Here's wishing Stamos well in his recovery.
