Joy - Trailer No. 1
"Joy" is actually the name of Jennifer Lawrence's character, but it's also how you'll feel watching the epic first trailer for this movie. Let us all bow down, once again, to Katniss/Mystique, who shows so much range just in this trailer alone that they may as well engrave her name on an Academy Award right now. "Joy" is also a good title for something that reunites director David O. Russell with his impressive "Silver Linings Playbook" cast -- JLaw, Bradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro. (What is this, the 107th movie Jen and Bradley have made together? No complaints.)

The trailer, which includes a Christmassy version of The Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want," is above.

The movie's plot suggests there's more complexity of emotion to the story than pure joy. Here's the synopsis 20th Century Fox shared with the trailer:

JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy's inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. Like David O. Russell's previous films, Joy defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty, and love."

That is quite a cast -- and with a December 25, 2015 release date, this is clearly An Oscar Contender. Will you volunteer as tribute to see this one?
