The rumors are true: "13 Reasons Why" back for a second season. Because the more "Reasons" the merrier? It's hard to see how the show could be less merry, but maybe they'll find a way.

Executive producer Selena Gomez posted the renewal news on Instagram:

Their story isn't over. Season 2 of #13ReasonsWhy is coming.

You don't need 13 reasons to understand why Netflix would want a Season 2. The high school series is the most-tweeted-about-show of 2017 so far, earning more than 11 million tweets since its March 31 debut.

In April, Deadline reported that Netflix was close to ordering a second season of "13 Reasons," which was adapted from Jay Asher's bestselling young adult novel. It's unclear exactly how the story will continue after Hannah Baker's tapes have been played, but they could follow the aftermath of the tapes, or the cliffhanger threads from other characters.

"13 Reasons Why" has been mired in controversy since its premiere, and the stars and producers recently analyzed the show's many difficult issues in a 30-minute Netflix video.
