That #StarringJohnCho meme from last year highlighted what a great leading man John Cho can make. And he has the opportunity to prove it on screen in "Columbus."

The Sundance darling has its first trailer, which sends Cho's Jin to the titular Indiana town when his father, an architect, falls ill. He meets an architecture lover (Haley Lu Richardson) who helps him explore the town's unique and stunning structures (which are real!). The end up bonding over their difficult relationships with his dad and her addict mom.

He's stuck in limbo, waiting for his dad to either die or recover, and she's drifting, avoiding talk of college and the future.

It's a beautiful movie, judging by the trailer, from a first-time Korean director known as Kogonada, a former Criterion video essayist, and cinematographer Elisha Christian.

"Columbus" also stars Parker Posey, Rory Culkin, and Michelle Forbes and opens in theaters August 4.
