Last night's episode bid farewell to series regular Martin Henderson, who played Nathan Riggs. Nathan left to move to Los Angeles with on-again fiancee Megan Hunt (guest star Abigail Spencer), who'd returned after years of being presumed dead.

During his time in Seattle, Riggs became involved with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), but she urged him to reunite with his true love.

"I loved that we were able to give Riggs a happy ending worthy of his character and talent," executive producer Shonda Rhimes said. "As for Martin, this is not an ending for our relationship. He has been part of the Shondaland family since the pilot of 'Inside the Box' and he will always be family. I can't wait to find a new project to work with him on in the future."

In the wake of Henderson and Spencer's departures, the hospital drama is adding a new face to the mix: "One Tree Hill" alum Bethany Joy Lenz. According to the Hollywood Reporter, she'll have a guest arc this season, through an unknown number of episodes, as a character named Jenny.

Lenz is no stranger to Shondaland, though; she starred in the unaired first pilot for "The Catch." The role was rejiggered and recast.

Season 14 has seen its share of cast shakeups. Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie) and Marika Dominczyk (Eliza) both departed prior to its start, while Stefania Spampinato came on board as DeLuca's sister and Arizona's love interest. Series regular Jason George is also set to move to the firefighter spinoff in midseason.
